Taking a look at day one results at the 4A State Basketball Tournament at Casper College:
Cheyenne South 58 Riverton 40
The Bison shot 48 percent from the field and 8-16 from three-point range, holding the Wolverines to just 40 points. Head coach Jim Shaffer credited those two things for the big win.
South plays Gillette Friday in the semifinals at 7:30 pm.
Cheyenne Central 59 Evanston 41
The Indians are the semifinals after a complete team effort against the Red Devils. Central shot 55 percent from the field, getting nice games from Nicholas Fraley (15 points), Jessen Reckling (14 points), and Dontel Ybarra (12 points). Head coach Tagg Lain said they got nice production inside.
Central will play Kelly Walsh tonight at 9 pm.
Cheyenne East 56 Rock Springs 34
The Lady Thunderbirds rolled into the semifinals, getting 15 points and nine rebounds from Cosette Stellern, while Sierra Stellern had eight points and ten boards. East will play Gillette at 6 pm this evening.
Natrona County 65 Cheyenne Central 45
The Lady Indians cut the lead to nine early in the fourth quarter. But the Fillies went on an 18-0 run to pull away. Central moves to the consolation bracket, and will play Evanston Friday morning at 9 a.m.
