A Cheyenne man is in custody after assaulting a Cheyenne Police Officer. Dan Long, Public Information Officer for the Cheyenne Police Department, said the officer was assaulted after responding to a burglary call last night in the 200 block of East 6th street.
Bunning allegedly broke into Unit #4 at the complex, which was occupied by a 63-year-old man. He damaged property inside the unit and held the man against the wall before leaving. Bunning allegedly then forced his way into Unit #3, which was unoccupied and caused more property damage.
Long said the officer was treated and released for injuries. He adds these types of assaults are rising in Cheyenne.
Bunning has been charged with assault on a police officer, unlawful entry and burglary charges.
