CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – A city in southwestern Wyoming has created a task force to pursue boosting broadband internet speeds and obtaining better access to it.

During the State of the City address on Monday, Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr announced the initiative that aims to attract more business to the city by making high-speed internet more affordable and accessible.

Array School of Technology and Design Headmaster Eric Trowbridge was appointed as the leader of the task force. Trowbridge told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that the task force would consider all options, including negotiations with current internet service providers in the area and possibly creating a city-operated network.

Orr says the task force’s first recommendations will be made within 60 days.
