The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission announced Monday that three candidates, one from Wyoming, Montana and Texas, will be submitted to Governor Mark Gordon, who will interview the three candidates and make the appointment of the department’s new director.
“Candidates must meet established criteria and go through an extensive interview process” said Mark Anselmi, commission president. “The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission is pleased with the caliber and professionalism of the applicants and the three finalists.”
One of the finalists is Brian Nesvik, chief of the wildlife division for Wyoming Game and Fish. Nesvik’s 24 years with the department have included stints as game warden throughout the state of Wyoming, regional wildlife supervisor in the Cody region and chief of the wildlife division.
Another finalist is Gary Bertellotti, regional supervisor for Montana, Fish, Wildlife and Parks in Great Falls, Montana. Bertellotti’s 21 years with the Montana department have included stints as acting chief of operations, assistant director and bureau chief of the Montana department hatchery system. Bertellotti worked in the Idaho Department of Fish and Game as a hatchery supervisor and fish culturist. He has also done work as endangered species recovery biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service out of Reno, Nevada.
The third finalist is David Morrison, small game program director Texas Parks and Wildlife in Austin, Texas. Morrison’s tenure with the Texas department has included stints as wildlife division deputy director.
Outgoing director Scott Talbott will retire this month after 34 years with the department. Deputy Director John Kennedy will continue to serve as acting director until the Governor appoints the new director.
