Cheyenne Frontier Days has not made a decision on whether or not the Daddy Of ‘Em All will go the last full week of July. Other large rodeos, the Calgary Stampede and the Greeley Stampede, have already made the tough decision to cancel their events due to concerns over spreading the conronavirus. Now, country music superstar Eric Church has announced he is shutting his tour down until a vaccine for the virus is found. Church is scheduled to perform at Frontier days July 24th.
Tom Hirsig, the CEO of Frontier Days, says with talk of certain statewide health orders being relaxed, CFD wants to see what the next month brings in response to the virus
Hirsig adds there is not a set drop dead for the decision about Frontier Days, but he says they need to make a decision by early June
It also appears as if the city of Cheyenne and Frontier days has reached an agreement on how security at Frontier Park will be paid for. The Cheyenne City Council approved a resolution Monday outlining Frontier Days would eventually pay the city more than half the cost of security for the next five years, offsetting added law enforcement burdens caused by its event. Frontier Days draws about 200,000 people each year. Security costs about $100,000 for the event
