The East Thunderbirds begin defense of their Class 4A football title Friday night at home against Kelly Walsh. Head coach Chad Goff told his team to not take the approach that they are defending their championship. Instead he told them, they are a new team and it’s a new year. The T-birds own a win over KW earlier this season, beating the Trojans 27-12 a few weeks ago. But that was without senior quarterback Tevis Bartlett, who fell ill just before the game.
The Trojans can be a dangerous team, especially with their quarterback Marcus Nolan, who was ineligible last week. Goff expects Nolan to be back, and says that they’re a much different team with him under center.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm at Okie Blanchard Stadium. You can catch all the action on AM 1240 KFBC, or right here on this website, beginning at 6:30.
Cheyenne Central at Sheridan
The Central Indians are the five seed in the playoffs, and must hit the road to play the four-seed, Sheridan. Central was beaten soundly three weeks ago at Sheridan, 44-7. The Broncs scored the first 16 points of the game, over a three-minute span to start the game off. Kickoff in Sheridan is set for 6 pm.
