Sheriff’s Office Addressing Increased Traffic Concerns due to Dell Range-U.S. 30 Construction

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is taking steps to address increased traffic in the neighborhoods affected by the Dell Range Blvd/U.S. Highway 30 construction zones.

Deputies and Command Staff have met with several residents as they’ve expressed concerns over speeders and commercial vehicles using Green Meadow Drive and Liberty Street as a detour. The sheriff’s office has said increased patrol activity, traffic stops and tickets may not fully resolve those issues.

In collaboration with the City of Cheyenne and WYDOT, they’re attending weekly meetings with the construction companies to address the concerns. As a result, the department has been able to collaborate with all involved to restrict truck traffic in residential areas by installing “No Truck Traffic” signs along Green Meadow Drive and Liberty Street. With the closing of the intersection of Whitney Road and Dell Range Blvd for the next two weeks, deputies will be monitoring the detour route on Foxglove Drive.

The sheriff’s office adds there is some positive news amidst these challenges – Dell Range Blvd/U.S. Highway 30 construction is progressing ahead of schedule. However, the department acknowledges more construction is yet to come.

The sheriff’s office recommends residents reach out to the LCSO with any traffic-related concerns anywhere in Laramie County.
