Two Children Injured After Being Hit by a Vehicle in a School Zone

Just after 8:00 Monday morning, two children were in the crosswalk on the east side of the intersection of College Drive (WY 212) and Walterscheid Blvd. While the children were crossing, a passenger vehicle turned left from Walterscheid to go east on College, striking the children in the crosswalk at about 10 to 15 mph.

The children suffered mild injuries as a result of the incident. The children’s father soon arrived and took the kids to the hospital, where they were treated and released.

The driver told troopers the morning sun prevented them from seeing the children. The children were crossing when the “walk” indication had been given by the signal light and had the right of way. The driver was cited for failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
