Wyoming High School Activities Association Commissioner Trevor Wilson sent out a press release last Friday outlining potential changes coming to member schools. The Wyoming state legislature recalibrated its approach to the state block grant funding model to public schools, addressing shortfalls in the state budget. Under the new ‘silo’ model, funding allocated for student activities and extra-duty responsibilities has decreased about 8.4% for school districts statewide. Additionally, the restructuring limits flexibility by restricting access to about $76.2 million in previously more adaptable funding, which will result in cuts requiring extreme restructuring of existing activities and athletic offerings. Wilson was on the SportsZone to address this subject.
