City of Cheyenne 9-29, 2016
The City’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 220 North College Drive, will continue to be open on Saturdays until November 19. The facility will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“The interest from the public to be open on Saturdays has been good so we wanted to continue having the facility open on Saturday’s through late fall,” said Dennis Pino, Solid Waste Director for the City of Cheyenne. “Public use drops during the winter months but we plan to open on Saturdays next Spring.”
The facility is currently open Monday through Friday year-round from 9 a.m. to Noon and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Household Hazardous Waste items are pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, solvents, oil-based paint, common household cleaners, and e-waste.
The City will not accept latex paint. To dispose of latex paint, open the can, let it dry hard, and then dispose of the can without the lid in your regular trash. If there is more than half a gallon of latex paint, dump cat litter into the can. Latex paint can be tossed into the regular trash because it is not considered hazardous waste.
Motorists need to drive into the Sanitation Transfer Station, 220 North College Drive, check in with City staff, and then proceed in their vehicle to the drop-off location. For safety reasons, motorists will need to remain in their vehicle while City workers unload the hazardous material.
Drop-off is free for Cheyenne residents.
