Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees has announced Dr. Boyd Brown has accepted the offer of a contract for the position of Superintendent of Schools.
The trustees will vote on Brown’s contract at the board meeting on Monday, May 7, in the Storey Gym Boardroom, 2811 House Ave.
Brown, who has served as Superintendent of Campbell County School District (CCSD) in Gillette since July 2014, will assume his duties with LCSD1 on July 1. He replaces John Lyttle, who is retiring June 30.
Brown has been with CCSD for the past 30 years. In addition to serving as superintendent, he has worked as a district administrator, building administrator and teacher at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
Over the past 15 years as a district administrator, Brown has been in charge of CCSD’s business, finance and construction areas for seven years, curriculum, instruction, and assessment areas for four years and superintendent for four years.
“I am honored to have the privilege and opportunity to work with the board, staff, students, parents, and community members of Laramie County School District 1,” Brown said. “I was very impressed, visiting 10 schools during my interview with the quality of students and staff members I had the opportunity to meet and observe. I look forward to forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work in Laramie #1.”
Brown received his Doctorate of Education from the University of Wyoming. He holds a superintendent’s license through the Wyoming Professional Teaching and Standards Board and has been involved at the state level working with the legislature on school funding and educational issues, University of Wyoming and Wyoming Association of School Administrators.
Nationally, he has been involved with AdvancED accrediting organization and the National Center for Education Research and Technology.
