Wyoming Highway Patrol 3-7, 2016
A Wyoming State Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a blue Jeep Cherokee around 9:17 a.m. this morning (March 7th) on the southern outskirts of Cheyenne when the Jeep failed to stop for the Trooper. The pursuit began on College Drive (WY-212) near the intersection with South Greeley Highway (US-85). The SUV eventually fled south for eight miles on US-85 towards Colorado.
The pursuit continued into Colorado on multiple county roads near the Carr, Colorado area. The suspect drove off-road multiple times including one time that did not allow the Wyoming Trooper to follow. The Wyoming Trooper was able to maintain observation of the Jeep while relaying the Jeep’s location to Colorado law enforcement.
The Wyoming Trooper observed the Jeep until the Colorado State Patrol located the SUV on Interstate 25. The suspect stopped for the Colorado State Patrol near mile post 291 on I-25 southbound approximately eight miles south of the Wyoming state line. The suspect was taken into custody by the Colorado State Patrol. As the Wyoming Highway Patrol did not make the arrest of the suspect in Colorado, we are not releasing the suspect’s identity.
Future charges are pending against the suspect in Wyoming as the investigation continues that will have to be served via an arrest warrant. Please contact the Colorado State Patrol’s Public Information Office at 303-239-4583 if you are in need of more information of this event and subsequent arrest.
