Cheyenne Fire Rescue Releases 2023 Annual Report

More than 10,000 calls were answered by Cheyenne Fire Rescue in 2023, a figure that includes medical emergencies, fires, rescues, hazardous conditions, and other general calls for service.

That number is one of several highlights in CFR’s 2023 Annual Report, which is now available online at www.cheyennecity.org/CFR.

“I continue to be extremely proud and humbled by the service that the men and women of Cheyenne Fire Rescue provide daily,” Chief John Kopper said. “Their continued commitment and dedication to the mission, vision, and values is unwavering and directly contributes to the organization’s success and growth.”

During its 114th year serving Cheyenne, CFR maintained an average response time of 5 minutes, 41 seconds; engaged in 25,709 hours of training, including three in-resident fire academies; recruited 17 new personnel (the most added in one year); and began the department’s first strategic plan.

In all, 12,412 individual apparatus, or vehicles, were dispatched to respond to calls from CFR’s five fire stations.

Looking to 2024, the department will receive delivery of four new engines and move into three new fire stations across Cheyenne.

“We will continue to prioritize the health and safety of all community members and firefighters while striving for constant improvement at Cheyenne Fire Rescue,” Kopper said.
