CPD Responds to Residential Break-in, Suspect Captured

At about 6:15 a.m. on May 5, officers with the Cheyenne Police Department responded to a call in the 1600 block of E. Lincolnway where a suspect had been pounding on a door of an apartment. As officers arrived they observed the suspect, later identified as Eugene Banks, 27, of Cheyenne, run into the apartment.  Banks did not reside at the address and locked himself in a room of the apartment.  Banks informed officers he was armed and after approximately 30 minutes of negotiating, surrendered to officers on scene.  Banks was found to have a replica pistol and was arrested for unlawful entry into an occupied structure as well as a warrant for a parole violation.  Nobody was injured during the incident.

 

This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
