Cheyenne Regional Medical Center is excited to announce the return of its highly anticipated annual event, “Wake Up to Heart Health,” now in its 15th year. This year’s event will be held exclusively in person, bringing together healthcare professionals, experts and the community to raise awareness about heart health.
The event will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Blue Community Events Center, located at 2401 E. Pershing Blvd., Cheyenne. The registration fee is $25, and registration can be completed online at cheyenneregional.org/wakeup or by phone at (307) 633-7667. Registration fees collected will contribute towards the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for the community, in partnership with Mended Hearts.
As a token of appreciation, all attendees will receive several giveaways, including an insulated tote and pill organizer.
Keynote speakers for the event will include Cheyenne Regional Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Abdur Khan and Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner Hilary Oakes. Their presentations will focus on crucial aspects of heart attack prevention and treatment, such as the significance of immediate care and calling 9-1-1 at the first signs of a heart attack. Presentations will include discussions on risk factors for heart disease and the importance of healthy lifestyle choices.
In addition to the insightful keynote sessions, Cheyenne Regional pharmacists will provide valuable information on medications commonly prescribed after a heart attack or for heart disease treatment. A compelling highlight of the event will be a personal account from a heart patient, sharing her journey during difficult times.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and gain life-saving skills. To fuel the day, a continental breakfast and heart-healthy lunch will be served.
