Customers living in, or near, the downtown, west, and south areas of Cheyenne may experience discolored water due to water main damage that occurred on Thursday.
To assist in clearing water lines, customers who experience discolored water should run cold water from a faucet for approximately 20-30 minutes. Begin with the lowest faucet in your home and then open the other faucets one at a time, moving from the lowest floor to the highest.
Avoid using hot water or doing laundry while the water is discolored to prevent sediment and minerals from being drawn into water heaters or from coming into contact with clothing.
While the discolored water is not Cheyenne’s usual standard for water quality, the water is safe. The Board of Public Utilities apologizes for any inconvenience.
