The first day of the 4A East Regional basketball tournament in Gillette saw four Capital City teams earn their way into the state tournament. Taking a look at the results…..
Cheyenne Central 33 Sheridan 32–Jada Ybarra hit the game-winner with 8.1 seconds to play, but a technical foul was called on the Lady Indians, as a player left the bench to celebrate. Sheridan hit one of two free throws and then didn’t get a shot up for the potential win. Central moves on to the state tournament.
Cheyenne East 58 Cheyenne South 47–for the third year in a row, these teams meet with a trip to state on the line, as the Thunderbirds rallied from down five at the half to pull away for the win.
Laramie 60 Cheyenne South 34–the two teams combined for 52 fouls and over 60 free throws in the game, as the Lady Plainsmen ended the Lady Bison’s season.
Cheyenne Central 59 Laramie 52–the Indians rallied from down 16 in the first half, to forge ahead late in the game, as the defending champs are back in the state tournament.
