Sheriff   5-15-18

On Friday, May 10, 2018 at approximately 0956 hours, Deputies from the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 5000 block of South Greeley Hwy on the report of gun shots.

Deputies met up with an adult female whom stated she had been shot. She received a non-threatening gunshot injury.

Deputies then responded to the 600 block of Pontillo Rd. A resident in one of the houses came out and said he was concerned about an adult male that was working on his property. That male was later found decease. He was found in a junk pile near the property.

The Laramie County/Cheyenne Police Department combined SWAT Team responded to protect deputies working in the area due to the fact there may have been someone still in the area with a gun.

While working in the area a male ran out of a home in the 4000 block of South Greeley Highway. The male attempted to flee in a vehicle.  He was stopped. Tried to run on foot but stopped a short distance from his vehicle. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Department for questioning.

While at the Sheriff’s Department the male became uncooperative. He attempted to climb out the ceiling of an interview room. In the process he assaulted a deputy. The male was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center where he currently is at the time of this release. The deputy is okay.

The deceased male has not yet been positively identified. The autopsy is today in Loveland, CO. Detective will continue their investigation today.

The weapon that appeared to be used was some type of rifle.

This case is still a very active crime scene. The Sheriff’s Department asks if anyone has any information to call the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau.

Names will be released at a later time.
