Fugitive Now Under Arrest in Cheyenne

A known fugitive is now under arrest in Cheyenne. The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office reports a felony arrest warrant was issued for Timothy Burney out of the Circuit Court, First Judicial District on November 22nd related to charges of strangulation and aggravated assault.

On December 6th, the Wyoming Fugitive Task Force adopted the fugitive case on Burney. On Tuesday, investigators with the task force located Burney driving a vehicle within Cheyenne in the area of East Pershing Avenue and Henderson Drive.

Investigators with the Wyoming Fugitive Task Force along with the Cheyenne Police Department conducted a high-risk felony stop on the vehicle driven by Burney. Burney complied with commands to exit the vehicle and was safely placed in custody. A search of the vehicle was conducted after arrest. Narcotics and a loaded firearm were recovered from the vehicle.

The task force comprises investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, Cheyenne Police Department, Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
