After more than four decades serving the Cheyenne community, Godfather’s Pizza Cheyenne will permanently close its doors on January 31.
Located at 5719 Yellowstone Road, the restaurant originally opened on May 18, 1982, first operated by Art Thiele. Over the years, it became a familiar gathering place for families, teams, and generations of customers. Ownership later transferred to Dawn Foster in 2001 before Bob Vreeland acquired the restaurant in February 2016, continuing its tradition as a locally owned and operated business.
“The decision to close the restaurant was made after carefully exploring all available options,” the Vreeland family said. “Prior to Bob Vreeland’s unexpected illness and passing in October 2025, the family had already discussed closing the business as part of his planned retirement. Given the circumstances and current business realities, moving forward with his plan is the most responsible path.”
The family expressed appreciation for the restaurant’s employees, many of whom have remained dedicated during a challenging period. They noted that the staff’s commitment and professionalism have helped carry the restaurant through its final chapter and encouraged local businesses to keep these team members in mind as they pursue new opportunities.
As the restaurant approaches its final weeks, the Vreeland family invites those who are able and willing to consider showing additional appreciation to the staff in Bob Vreeland’s honor, recognizing their dedication and care. In addition, those wishing to honor Bob’s memory are encouraged to consider a donation to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation, a cause meaningful to the family.
Godfather’s Pizza Cheyenne will remain open through January 31, and the community is invited to visit
in the coming weeks.
