A wildfire burned a grassy area next to two high schools in south Cheyenne.
The fire Sunday afternoon came within a few feet of both Cheyenne South and Triumph High Schools, but firefighters were able to keep it from causing any damage to the buildings.
Laramie County Fire District 1 Assistant Chief Dillon Conner says the short grass near the schools helped firefighters.
The fire was reported about 1:30 p.m.
