Lead testing conducted on F.E. Warren Air Force Base

F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE

The 90th Medical Group recently found an elevated level of lead in a child’s blood during a routine 12-month screening. The child resides in privatized housing on F.E. Warren AFB.

The 90th MDG responded by taking multiple samples in the home and found elevated amounts of lead in a bathtub and a door knob.

Base leadership and the privatized housing contractor formed a team to notify potentially affected tenants and to continue to test other homes to determine if there is cause for concern. A team of experts is testing and investigating to determine potential sources of lead exposure.

“The safety of our Airmen and their families is a top priority, and we are working diligently to address this issue with the privatized housing contractor and our military tenants,” said Col. Stacy Jo Huser, 90th Missile Wing commander.

The situation is still developing. As additional details become available, they will be posted to the 90th Missile Wing website at warren.af.mil.
