The first female mayor in the 150 year history of Cheyenne was sworn into office yesterday. Supreme Court Justice Bill Hill administered the oath of office to Marian Orr at the Cheyenne Civic Center last night. Orr says she is honored and humbled to be the next mayor of the Capital City.
Governor Matt Mead recognized the ceiling Orr has broken by becoming the first female mayor of Cheyenne and says she follows in a line of firsts for women in the Equality State.
Orr says the transition from Rick Kaysen’s administration has gone well and she has a lot on her plate for her first 100 days.
Also last night, newly elected city councilmen and department heads were sworn in. Dicky Shanor was voted president of the city council with Dr. Mark Rinne elected vice president.
