Wyoming Cowboy basketball coach Larry Shyatt announced that senior forward Larry Nance, Jr. has been medically cleared to participate in full practices for the upcoming season. Nance tore the ACL in his right knee on February 18th, and had surgery to repair the injury in early March. Nance is the preseason player of the year in the Mountain West, and Shyatt says they will continue to be conservative with their approach to Nance’s rehabilitation.
The Cowboys learned how to play without Nance the last seven games of the season. And although they only won one game during that stretch, Nance, ever the optimist, feels that everything may have been a blessing in disguise.
Obviously, if Nance had his way, he wouldn’t have gone through this process and would’ve stayed healthy. The rehab process has been long and trying, but Nance says that there’s even some silver linings that have come out of all of this for him personally.
The Cowboys are currently getting ready for the upcoming season. The opener is November 16th at home.
