No injuries or fatalities are being reported following a grass fire Wednesday that led to evacuations in the Winchester Hills neighborhood in south Cheyenne.
The blaze was reported around 4:30 p.m. around mile marker 4 on I-25 and along Terry Ranch Road. Due to the high winds, the fire spread quickly and threatened various homes in the Winchester Hills and Bison Crossing Subdivisions.
Evacuation orders were requested and residents in the affected areas were sent to South High School. Those orders lasted about three hours.
Black Hills Energy did turn the power off in the area as a precaution and for the safety of responding crews.
