The old Cheyenne police state could be bought soon. The Diocese of Cheyenne has made an offer to purchase the building and move some of their offices there. The building opened up when the Cheyenne Police Department moved into the new public safety building downtown. Mayor Rick Kaysen says it was the City’s plan all along to sell the building.
Kaysen says there wasn’t a lot of interest in the building other than the Diocese of Cheyenne. With the purchase, downtown Cheyenne won’t have another vacant building.
Kaysen says the old police building has been appraised from $1 to 1.3 million and the Diocese’s offer is in the range. Money from the sale would initially go into the City’s reserves.
