More details are being released in the fatal vehicle-train collision last week. Around 5:20 p.m. on November 28th, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle verses train crash on County Road 154 just north of I-80.
A train was setting stationary across Road 154. The railroad crossing gate was down and the railroad crossing warning lights were flashing when a pickup traveling northbound on 154 ran into the side of the train.
The driver of the pickup, identified as 45-year-old John Balczewski, of Burns, was not wearing a seatbelt. John did not survive his injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at the scene.
This remains an ongoing investigation.
