A fatal crash within the city limits of Cheyenne, Wyoming on Interstate 80 on August 24th has resulted in the death of 74 year old Dennis Noack from Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. The crash occurred at 8:10 p.m. on the 24th near mile post 363 on Interstate 80 approximately one mile west of the College Drive exit in Cheyenne.
Noack was driving a 2004 Toyota Solara passenger car traveling east on I-80 when the Toyota rear-ended an eastbound 2016 Jeep Cherokee that was driven by 57 year old Cheyenne resident Karl Musgrave. The rear-end collision caused the Jeep, driven by Musgrave, to trip and roll into the south ditch. The Toyota, driven by Noack, also tripped and rolled into the south ditch as well after the initial collision.
Noack was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected and sustained fatal injuries on scene.
Musgrave and a 55 year old female passenger in the Jeep with Musgrave were both wearing their seat belts and were not ejected. Both were transported by ground ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical and were both treated and released.
Speed and lane use are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash that marked the 76th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016. There were 100 fatalities during this same time period in 2015.
