On Friday around 9:35 p.m., Cheyenne Police Officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired at a residence near the 1600 block of West Jefferson Road.
According to statements, a male victim was sitting in his truck when the suspect, later identified as 45-year-old Demetrius Coletti, of Cheyenne, drove by and fired at him. The round missed the victim and Coletti drove away. No injuries were reported; however, the truck was hit by gunfire.
Officers worked to clear the area, spoke to several witnesses, and determined that Coletti was driving a light-colored Chevy Tahoe. The information was relayed over the radio, and a Laramie County Sheriff’s Deputy recognized the vehicle near the intersection of College Drive and Walterscheid Boulevard.
The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop but Coletti drove away, accelerating to a high rate of speed. While officers and deputies followed, Coletti proceeded to drive recklessly – during the pursuit, he ran a red light and crashed into a car traveling through the intersection of West Lincolnway and Central Avenue. The occupants of the vehicle did not report serious injury and refused medical care.
Coletti continued down Lincolnway at a high rate of speed. The pursuit ended west of town when a wheel fell off his Tahoe, causing it to stop.
Officers arrested Coletti and he was booked into the Laramie County Jail for attempted 1st degree murder, fleeing and eluding, and duty to stop.
