Suspect Arrested in Laramie County Following Pursuit

On November 19th around 2:25 p.m., Laramie County Sheriff’s Deputies located a stolen vehicle leaving the Cheyenne Motel. The vehicle was occupied by two males.

A Deputy got in behind the vehicle and confirmed the vehicle was stolen.  The driver, later identified as 38-year-old Adam Ruhaak, briefly pulled over around East 9th Street and Crook Avenue.  Deputies were giving commands to the two men in the stolen vehicle when Ruhaak sped away.

Deputies pursued the vehicle for less than a mile before they lost sight of it. While searching the area, they received information that a Ruhaak had entered Polaris Rehabilitation Center. Deputies and Cheyenne Police Department Officers searched Polaris Rehabilitation Center for Ruhaak. Ruhaak had crawled out a window and was located two blocks west of Polaris in a backyard.

Around 2:35 p.m., Ruhaak was placed under arrest and charged with:

  1. Motor vehicle theft (Felony)
  2. Suspended driver’s license
  3. Fleeing and Eluding
  4. Interference with a Peace Officer
  5. Criminal Entry

The male passenger in the vehicle was not involved in the vehicle theft and was released from the scene without charges.  The vehicle was returned to the owner a short time later.  Several homeowners in the area provided camera footage to Deputies which aided in the capture and investigation.
