Two road construction construction projects will get underway in the Cheyenne area this week according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT).
On Monday morning, July 28, the I-80 westbound lane on-ramp at the Sun Valley Interchange (College Drive) will close. Motorists needing to access I-80 westbound will be detoured down College Drive to South Greeley Highway, then north back to I-80.
WYDOT says the on-ramp will be out of service for approximately 30 days to allow repairs on the bridge over Crow Creek that will improve the ride quality on and off of the structure. Numerous slabs will be replaced, among other work.
A second bridge project in the Cheyenne area is is set to begin on Wednesday. On July 30, repairs will commence on the bridge structure over I-80 at the Archer Interchange.
Travelers using the bridge are advised by WYDOT to allow themselves a little more time to reach their destination as traffic will be temporarily brought down to single-lane, alternating. WYDOT expects this project to be completed by the first week of September
The contractor for these projects is Reiman Corporation out of Cheyenne at a cost of $2.566 Million.
