The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities (BOPU) will begin pressure zone modifications in south Cheyenne this week, depending on weather conditions. The area affected is bound by Parsley Boulevard to the west, Union Pacific Railroad to the north, Crow Creek to the east, and I-80 to the south. This area is currently within the City Pressure Zone and will be shifted into the Sun Valley Pressure Zone.
BOPU is making this modification to the water distribution system primarily to mitigate high pressures in the aging system which is a direct cause of water main leaks and disruption of water service to customers. With current pressures in excess, a reduction of static pressure will reduce the number of potential leaks while extending the life expectancy of the water mains in the pressure zone.
Customers may be temporarily affected by variable water pressure within the area marked on the map below, however water will continue to be supplied to homes and business during the project. While customers may experience lower water pressure following this pressure zone modification, the BOPU ensures pressures continue to align with industry standards.
For questions concerning water, please contact the BOPU at 637-6471. The Board apologizes for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your cooperation as we upgrade our water system.
