Around 5:15 Tuesday afternoon, the Laramie County Fire Authority responded to a wildland fire call at Road 128 and US 85. LCFA and partners contained the fire to 125 acres. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Responding partners were LCFD1, LCFD3, LCFD5, LCFD6, Cheyenne Fire, Warren AFB Fire, and AMR.
“Thank you to the community and our partners for getting a quick hit on the fire. This kept it small considering the wind speed. This is a reminder of how dry it is out there,” said Manny Muzquiz, LCFA Assistant Fire Chief.
“Take the time now to protect your property, mow your grass, declutter your yards, remove flammable materials like hay bales and wood piles from the sides of your homes. With our current weather conditions and fuel loads from last summer’s rains we have tall grass that is very dry. Assist us by strengthening your safety zone around your house and out building. It is not if but when we have another event like this. If you have questions on how to fortify your property please call us, our team will come out and review your property providing you with how to make it safer,” said LCFA Fire Chief Jason Caughey.
