CPD 8-25-20
On August 23, 2020 at around 4:00 pm, CPD was dispatched to a residence in the 2100 block of Cheyenne Street in reference to a report of shots fired outside the residence.
Due to the nature of the call, and all parties involved retreating back into the residence refusing to come out, the decision was made to activate the SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU). Both parties involved eventually came out of the residence without incident.
It was determined that after a verbal altercation, Brenda Sutton had allegedly fired a handgun at her boyfriend. The round did not strike Sutton’s boyfriend. Sutton was taken into custody on scene and transported to the Cheyenne Public Safety Center where she was interviewed. Sutton
was also found to have a Laramie County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of methamphetamine.
After the interview, Sutton was transported to the Laramie County Detention Center where she was booked the warrant and on the charge of Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon.
