| The Cheyenne Elks Lodge, with the support of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee, has funded 350 care packages to overseas deployed Wyoming Military. “Operation Care Package” was established by the Cheyenne Elks Lodge this fall. The idea was to send a symbol of compassion and gratitude overseas to the deployed Wyoming Army National Guard members. They began the process by receiving donations from Lodge members and the community of Cheyenne. “We collected donations of assorted food and personal hygiene items. On Saturday, November 9th, a team of volunteers packed 350 boxes with these items along with notes of thanks and encouragement.” Shared the Cheyenne Elks Lodge 660. Upon the assembly of the care packages, the largest hurdle was the shipping expense. Each box shipped for just under $18 and projected a total cost of $6,100. Wyoming’s generous businesses stepped up to the plate to fund the remaining about. First, Blue Federal Credit Union supplied the Lodge with $1,000. Then the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee members reached out to fellow businesses to capture matches. In just one afternoon following the Military Affairs Committee Luncheon, the remaining funds needed to send the care packages was pledged. Capitol Roofing, Inc., First American Title, RE/MAX Capitol Properties and National Property Inspections, all matched with $1,000 and more community support was acquired closing the fiscal gap. “Operation Care Package” was fully funded and care packages have been shipped. During the MAC Luncheon Blue Federal Credit Union, Michele Bolkovatz, VP of Public Relations, expressed, “We want our troops to know we are grateful for their sacrifices and give them love from Wyoming.” |
