The Wyoming Defense Has To Continue To Play With a Chip on Their Shoulder

by Keith Kelley–7 Aug ’18

Success can lead to complacency at times.  At Wyoming, the Cowboy defense had a lot of success last year, and the expectation is they will once again be really good, if not better, this season.  But the Pokes can’t rest on last year’s successes.  They led the country in takeaways, with 38 last year, and the Cowboys defense was top ten in the country last year in scoring defense.

Senior cornerback Antonio Hull says they have to act like none of that happened last year, “We have to play like we didn’t get 38 turnovers, and go get 40 turnovers, again, go play with a chip on our shoulder.  Like last year, coming in, we had a chip on our shoulder, knowing that in 2016, we gave up a lot of passing yards.”

Hull added, “But we came back and dominated. And this year we want to do the same thing, just on a different level. ”

The Cowboys are continuing with fall camp in Laramie, as they prepare for the season opener, August 25th at New Mexico State.
