Laramie County School District 1 officials say they were notified over the weekend of an accident resulting in the death of a Pioneer Park Elementary School student.
Albany County Coroner Amanda Pittman has confirmed that the student was a 6-year-old girl and that the accident occurred in Albany County. An autopsy will be performed later this week with a report expected to be released by Friday.
“We are saddened by the news of this tragic accident,” Superintendent John Lyttle said in a release. “Counselors are available at school and we are asking parents to watch their children as they go forward in the grieving process.”
Lyttle said due to privacy issues and pending the notification of next of kin, the district is not at liberty to release the student’s name or details about the accident.
