Wyoming senior quarterback Colby Kirkegaard left last Saturday night’s game against Boise State late in the first half, with what was later described as, a severely sprained ankle. Cowboy head coach Craig Bohl said that it looked as if Kirkegaard’s ankle was broken after seeing replays of the injury. Even after all of that, Kirkegaard is still listed as the number one QB heading into the season finale at New Mexico this weekend. Bohl says it’s been pretty remarkable to see the progress that Kirkegaard made in just a couple of days.
Senior Sam Stratton and sophomore Tom Thorton will get the bulk of the reps in practice as Kirkegaard recovers. Bohl says that if he can’t go, that whoever will be playing behind center, will be prepared to play against the Lobos.
Wyoming (4-7, 2-5) wraps up their season in Albuquerque Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
