The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will be offering watercraft and equipment inspection and decontamination training for Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) during April, May and June at various locations around the state. The trainings are open to anyone interested in learning more about aquatic invasive species and becoming certified in watercraft inspections.
The trainings will provide the skill necessary for boaters to inspect their own watercraft and will include training on basic mussel biology, distribution, transport vectors, and impacts. The focus is on how to inspect watercraft that may be transporting zebra or quagga mussels. Training will include classroom instruction, a question and answer session, and a hands-on watercraft inspection exercise.
The trainings will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations:
Cheyenne April 4 WGFD Headquarters Bldg.
Green River April 7 Green River Game and Fish Regional Office
Lander April 10 Lander Game and Fish Regional Office
Sheridan April 14 Sheridan Game and Fish Regional Office
Evanston May 9 Bear Community Center
Laramie May 16 West Laramie Fire Station
Gillette May 19 Alan Mickelson Fire Training Center, Campbell Co. Fire Dept.
Jackson June 3 Jackson Game and Fish Regional Office
Trainings are free but registration deadline is one week prior to the class start date. Each class will be limited to 20 people.
