A council appointed by Gov. Matt Mead to study the potential impacts of medical marijuana legalization in Wyoming has established specific issues it will focus on.
The Governor’s Marijuana Impact Assessment Council on Friday established several subcommittees, each of which will be tasked with analyzing a different aspect of marijuana’s effects.
The subcommittees named included education, legislative issues, health, criminal justice, agriculture and revenue, and research.
Through the end of November, the members of each of those six subcommittees will look for relevant information on how medical marijuana has impacted those areas in other states that have legalized it.
Council members and subcommittee heads are expected to provide a progress update on their research efforts at the council’s next meeting, slated for Oct. 6.
