The City of Cheyenne will stay with a strong mayor form of government. The residents of Cheyenne voted down an attempt to change the Cheyenne government to a city administrator last night. The Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce was a strong proponent of the city administrator. Chamber president, Dale Steenbergen said while he doesn’t agree with the outcome, the people have spoken.
Steenbergen said now the Chamber will do whatever they can to make the business environment in Cheyenne as positive as possible as the city moves forward.
With 90 percent of the precincts reported, 4508 votes or 63% were against the city administrator while 2578 votes, 36%, were in favor. Councilmen Scott Roybal, a city administrator supporter, echoed Steenbergen’s remarks saying Cheyenne voters have spoken.
Of the 19,767 registered voters in Cheyenne, 7,095 ballots were cast.
