A 50-acre wildfire is burning near Lake Owen in Albany County. Aaron Voos with the U.S. Forest Service, says they believe the fire started early Monday afternoon, although the cause is still unknown.
Voos reports the Owen fire is burning near the area where the Squirrel Creek fire burned two summers ago.
The Lake Owen Campground and Day-Use Area has been evacuated, as well as the north end of Fox Creek Road. Multiple USFS and county engines are on their way along with a Type 3 helicopter. Voos says more resources will likely be requested as they put together more details about the fire.
