Anti-Discrimination Resolution Goes to COW

Staff 10-12, 2016

A proposed anti-discrimination resolution was introduced at the Cheyenne City Council on Monday. The resolution is aimed at providing support against discrimination toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents. No discussion or debate was held at the time of introduction. That will take place at the Committee of the Whole and other City Council meetings.
A previous attempt at an anti-discrimination ordinance failed, but supporters are hoping a resolution will pass. Mayor Rick Kaysen says he is trying to see the value of needing such a resolution.

Kaysen says he sees where the supporters of the resolution are coming from, but he doesn’t see the data showing it is needed.

The issue now goes to Committee of the Whole next Wednesday.
