Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting

On Tuesday, November 14, at approximately 0157 hours deputies with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 4400 block of Avenue B-2 on the report of a shooting. Upon the deputies’ arrival they found a deceased 36 year old male.

The reporting party, Cody Hess, a 21 year old male who lived at the residence of 4401 Avenue B-2, advised dispatch that he had just shot his roommate. The deceased male has been identified as Michael B. Robbins. Robbins was renting a room from the Hess family.

Cody Hess stated he shot Michael Robbins three times in the upper chest area. Later that morning an autopsy was completed and two bullets were recovered from Mr. Robbins. One round grazed the web of Robbins left hand, one round went into the left bicep area, through the bicep into the left chest area, and the other round went into Robbins left chest area. Hess shot Robbins with a 9mm handgun that he was carrying in the front of his shorts.

Cody Hess was arrested for Murder in the Second Degree and is currently being held in the Laramie County Detention Center. The case has been referred to the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office. The Sheriff’s Department is still awaiting toxicology results. Cody Hess is a Cheyenne resident and Robbins has had ties to Cheyenne and Sheridan.
