Barrasso Spends Thanksgiving with Wyoming Troops in Qatar, Afghanistan

Office of Senator Barrasso    11-24, 2016

U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) spent Thanksgiving with members of the Wyoming National Guard serving in Qatar and Afghanistan.

Barrasso visited with members of the 153rd Airlift Wing, who support airlift operations out of Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. He then traveled to Afghanistan, where he shared Thanksgiving dinner with members of the B Battery, 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery, who are conducting artillery missions out of Bagram Air Base.

“The men and women of Wyoming have a proud record of military service to our country. This year is no exception. Right now, we have members of the Wyoming National Guard from across the Cowboy State stationed in both Qatar and Afghanistan,” said Barrasso. “It was an honor to bring a little bit of Wyoming to them this Thanksgiving. We enjoyed talking about their families back home and how excited we are to cheer on the Cowboy football team as they wrap up their winning season this fall. Everyone can be proud of the outstanding job our Wyoming troops are doing to keep our country safe.”

In addition to sharing Thanksgiving dinner with the troops, Barrasso was given a tour of the both bases and was briefed by military officials about ongoing operations in the Middle East.
