The unofficial start to Cheyenne Frontier Days rolled through the streets of Cheyenne yesterday, with the annual cattle drive.
Cowboys drove 550 steers that will be used in the Daddy Of ‘Em All from a pasture north of Cheyenne along Interstate 25 on the service road, to Central Avenue and into Frontier Park. Spectators lined the route to witness the event that dates back to the beginnings of Frontier Days when the only way to get the cattle to Frontier Days was a cattle drive.
The steers used in the cattle drive will also be used during Frontier Days for several activities, including bull-dogging and roping.
This is the 120th Cheyenne Frontier Days, and it starts Friday with the Cinch Rodeo Shootout, and the first night show with Sam Hunt.
