Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities Issues Notice Regarding Well Irrigation

The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities (BOPU) is no longer providing “well irrigation” signage but does encourage residents continue to properly disclose use of well irrigation by posting a notice, or sign, in a street facing window.

The BOPU would also like to remind residents:

  • It is a violation of City Code 13.08.110 “No cross-connections are permitted which, in the opinion of the BOPU, may contaminate the city water system”. This can include private wells.
  • It is the property owner’s responsibility to verify the status of their permit for a groundwater well from the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office (SEO). Please contact the SEO for more information about water conservation requirements for private wells.

The Annual Watering Schedule, including no watering between 10am and 6pm or during extreme weather events, applies to all residents in an effort to promote better water efficiency in Cheyenne’s semi-arid climate.
