Cheyenne PD Responding to Increase in Robberies

The Cheyenne Police Department is investigating a robbery which occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m., July 6, when a person came into the Kum N Go at 4505 Ridge Rd. and demanded money. The suspect had his face covered, was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, yellow gloves and was carrying a dark blue backpack. The suspect was described as a male, approximately 6’2” and between 150-160 lbs. No weapons were observed during the incident which remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department. So far this year, the Cheyenne Police Department has investigated 15 robberies as compared to 9 robberies for the same period of time in 2016. Of this year’s robberies, the CPD has submitted paperwork to prosecutors in six cases while nine remain under investigation. For the same period of time in 2016, five cases were forwarded to prosecutors while four cases remain under investigation. CPD’s solve rate for robberies remains above the national average, which is approximately 30%.
