CPD 12-29, 2016
Many officers at the Cheyenne Police Department will be wearing a new badge in 2017. Chief Kozak has authorized the use of a historic badge to commemorate Cheyenne’s sesquicentennial, or 150th anniversary. The new design is the first known CPD badge, a replica of the one worn by Officer Edwards when he was killed in the line of duty in 1907. The CPD has existed since 1867, several days after Cheyenne itself was founded as a city. CPD officers purchased these commemorative badges with their own funds and are authorized to wear them through 2017, as well as the current official CPD badge.
