The Cheyenne Police Department is taking to social media to get information to Cheyenne neighborhoods. The police department is now using a private social network call “Next Door” to build stronger and safer by using Cheyenne residents. Public information officer Dan Long says the next Door website sort of creates a virtual neighborhood watch program.

The Cheyenne Police department uses a website, Facebook, and Twitter to already communicate with residents, and Long says with the addition of Next Door, social media is helping the Cheyenne Police department get information out to everyone.

Long says the Cheyenne Police department will not be able access residents’ website, contact information or content. They will just be able to share information with residents. Any interested in joining their neighborhood’s Nextdoor website can visit www.nextdoor.com and enter their address.
